Take your sailing to the next level with expert tuition at our RYA Training Centre in Samos. Complete the RYA Start Racing Course with Sheridan Brown!

As with each of our Programmes, all of Richmond’s usual activities remain available to you during your holiday! This means that by booking the RYA Start Racing Course, you can be assured you are simply adding to the fun and enjoyment of your holiday. The times of ministry, local walks, trips to beautiful harbourside towns, bike adventures and more are all still available to you!

What is RYA Start Racing?

Have you completed your RYA Sailing Levels 1 and 2? Would you like to build on these skills and obtain a new RYA qualification? If so, join us on the RYA Start Racing Course! 

In addition to our fantastic Sailing and Windsurfing courses that are available throughout the season, on the 12th June we will also be running the RYA Start Racing Course. This is the perfect week for those who love to have fun on the water and experience new things on holiday.

At the end of the week there will be an assessment and those who successfully complete the course will be awarded their RYA certificate.

What you can expect

A course of five half-day workshops will run during the week covering race starts, boat handling, speed, race tactics and strategy. We will cover all the essential items from the RYA Start Racing module so participants will be awarded the RYA Start Racing certificate at the end of the week. 

Limited to six participants, the teaching style will be relaxed – it is your holiday, after all! The coaching will be led by a highly experienced RYA Senior Instructor who is able to cater for a range of abilities. So whether you are an Improver (i.e. you have RYA level 2 or can sail competently around a triangular course) or an aspiring club racer, there will be opportunities to challenge yourself and improve your sailing skills.

Your Programme Leader

Sheridan has been involved with Richmond since 2015 and has been leading the Sailing Programme since its inception two years ago; he also leads the training programme for Richmond’s aspiring Dinghy Instructors. He is an RYA Advanced and Multihull Instructor and will be delighted to welcome regular and new guests to Samos for this superb week taking in a variety of sailing skills.
