Activities & Excursions

Situated just off the coast of Turkey, Samos has an illustrious past both in mythology and history. There are a number of excursions available throughout the summer which you can book in resort, plus some pleasant places to visit for free.

Pythagorio, where philosopher Pythagoras was born, is undoubtedly one of the prettiest harbour towns in the Med. Here you can sit in a harbourside café with just a few feet of cobbled quayside between you and the fishing boats, yachts and small ferries that use this peaceful harbour. The village with all its shops and tavernas is just 15 minutes’ drive from the hotel and becomes a popular haunt of Richmond guests in the summer.

The hotel has its own minibus which provides a free shuttle service to Pythagorio or Samos Town.

If you would like to go further afield we also have an exciting programme of excursions this summer which you can choose and book in resort.

Please see our watersports page for details of sailing dinghies, windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding.

Our biking centre is home to a range of mountain and hybrid bikes that you are able to use at your leisure, or on a guided bike trip. Our Bike Leader will lead regular trips to explore areas of the island you may never have known existed; with a range of routes from coffee shop tours to downhill rock-scrambling, there is something for all abilities. We provide helmets, puncture repair kits and locks for each bike and ensure all the equipment is properly maintained. The bike centre is suitable for anyone aged 12 or above, children’s equipment is not provided.

Keep fit and enjoy a little light competition on our tennis courts. All equipment is provided, however, if you play regularly we would recommend bringing your own racquet. Our Activities Reps will host matches during your holiday to ensure you can make the most of this facility. We often hold tournaments for the competitive amongst you, however, if you are just starting out, our Reps would love to have a little knockabout and help to get you into the swing of things!

These fun classes help improve physical fitness whilst stretching out muscles to release tension and avoid risks of injury while partaking in other sports. Our Activities Reps will lead exercise classes throughout your holiday. Some classes make use of mats and some will be pool-based for the added benefit of the water-resistance (and the cool, refreshing water!)
