Here at Richmond, we love a ski holiday in March or April! Not ones to keep holiday tips secret, we thought it was time to share why we think a sunny spring ski holiday could be perfect for you!

We love being in the mountains during March and April, thanks to even more blue-sky days compared with the colder months at the start of the year. Some of the many highlights of a ski holiday in the sunshine include not having to wear so many layers, not having such cold wind in your face, as well as being able to enjoy the fantastic blue-sky views out across the mountains!

Snow-sure Resort

Did you know that 85% of the ski area in the Three Valleys resort is situated above 1,800m? This means that despite the sunshine’s best efforts, the high altitude ensures there will be snow throughout December to the end of April. The 2,100 snow cannons positioned along the pistes also help to maintain super skiing conditions every day of the winter season.

Lower Prices

Following a snow-fuelled February, the prices in mellow March begin to decrease, meaning you can get a great deal on your Richmond ski holiday. If you are travelling as a family, this could be of particular interest, as the Easter holidays enjoy lower priced accommodation and travel compared to other school holiday weeks. Also, can you think of better place than the majestic mountains to celebrate Jesus’ incredible sacrifice?

Great for Beginner Skiing

March and April can be a brilliant time to try out skiing as a beginner, no matter what age you are. The warmer spring weather can be a bit more forgiving for beginners, as you acclimatise to the idea of spending 8 hours in the snowy outdoors! This could be a particularly important factor to consider if you are bringing children during Easter holidays.

Spend More Time on the Slopes

Skiing in March and April means that you can make the most of the longer days, as the sun shines for longer and lifts are open later. So, you can ski until the lifts shut, have a final “vin chaud” at the top of the mountain and ski back to the chalet before the sun sets – just in time for that last slice of cake at afternoon tea!

Rachel, who joined us for her first ski holiday in March 2018 writes about her experience below:

“The whole week was perfect. We have never skied before, and the team made it so easy for us to get to and from the airport and to our ski lessons and gave great advice. The location of Bettaix was perfect with easy access to the ski lift (once we were competent to use it!) - plus we could ski home at the end of the day. The living area was lovely to relax in and made it easy to have great conversations with others. We loved the social aspect of the week. The food was AMAZING! Ministry was well timed during the day and an appropriate length. The staff team were friendly and fun. The evening games were great and very inclusive… We have had a memorably wonderful time this week and will have many warm words to say of Richmond for a long time to come. Many thanks to the staff team for making us feel so at home.”
