POSTED 27 December 2017 BY Verity IN Ski, Richmond Team
As ever, the Richmond ski season has taken off rapidly, as Richmond’s new team are launched into the exciting prospect of the first weeks of guests. Sacha, one of our Interns, has written about how the two chalet teams found set-up and the first week of the ski season.
“Skiing and cleaning alike, has allowed the team to bond quickly and often humorously with several impressive ‘wipe-outs’ occurring on the slopes, as we all got to know each other. Friendships were formed during training, which both chalet teams carried out together in Reberty at the start of the season. This friendship between chalets has continued, with the Reberty team then lending a hand in getting the Bettaix chalet up and running. Through our own ministry times and training activities, the team has developed into a friendly and loving one that spans across the short five miles (or one/two chairlifts) that separate us!
In between training and preparing both chalets for the season ahead, we have been able to make an excitable and enthusiastic appearance alongside guests on the Les Menuires slopes. We have all been consistently amazed by the masses of fresh powder that is renewed practically every night. With one of the best early winter snowfalls on record for several years, everybody has enjoyed a fantastic first week on the slopes. The excitement continues to build for what promises to be a brilliant season of skiing.
Working alongside Managing Director Adam Playfair’s wonderful parents Chris and Jo, has also been a particular highlight for the staff team at the start of this season. Both, have amounted significant experience in Richmond’s beautiful chalets, having ran a very successful summer season in the Alps this summer. As such, their presence, wisdom and humour were invaluable for us all at the start of the season as we got to know the chalets.
We were eased into the new season with some familiar faces staying in the chalet in our first week. Each element of our new jobs, from developing cooking and dinner service skills, to perfecting cleaning and snow shovelling techniques, have quickly fallen into place. The season promises to be an action packed and busy one – enhanced by the promise of brilliant snow! We cannot get enough of the stunning scenes surrounding our impressive ‘office’!
We hugely look forward to meeting new and old Richmond guests alike this winter. We are all very delighted to welcome you into the warmth and friendly atmosphere of our charming chalets, and excited to compare ski techniques and funny skiing anecdotes from the slopes – we hope to see you soon!”
